Douglas H. Aston Sr.
Douglas Harold Aston, Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014 at the age of 82. He was born on Feb. 29, 1932 to Greely Ray and Minnie (Ward) Aston in Corsicana. He was a resident of Llano since 1968. He came from Big Spring. Douglas married Jean Thorpe on July 20, 1954 in Lovington, N.M. They were married for 60 years. Douglas was a minister, and he retired from LCRA in 1994. He spent many years serving the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Greely and Minnie Aston. Survivors include wife, Jean Aston of Buchanan Dam; son, Douglas Aston, Jr. of Austin; daughter, Neshia Brown and husband, Dr. Steve Brown of Boise, Idaho; brother, Kenneth Ray Aston of Abilene and he is also survived by his grandson, Stuart Aston Brown of Frankfort, Ky. Visitation was held on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home in Llano. A funeral service was held on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014 at the Church of Christ in Buchanan Dam with Brother Leon Bridges officiating. Burial followed at the Bluffton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stuart Aston Brown, Bill Haggerton, Larry Reagan, Billy Christian, James Christian, Doug Overstreet, Mike Fritz and Bill McCarver. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cherokee Home for Children, Sunny Glen Children’s Home in San Benito, Texas, Central Texas children’s Home in Buda,or In Search of The Lords Way in Edmond, Okla.
