Liberty Hill’s Colt Stoffle drove in pinch runner David Nash with a base hit in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Panthers to a 4-3 win over the Llano Yellowjackets to secure the District 8-3A baseball title Tuesday night at Liberty Hill.

Llano still finishes in second place by itself in the district with Burnet’s 9-8 loss to Brownwood. Llano had solid pitching from Isaac Hutto and Taylor Sorenson as the pair of righthanders held Liberty Hill to four hits. Four Llano errors in the field were the undoing for the Jackets.

Hutto pitched four innings and gave up three runs while striking our four and walked two Panthers. Sorensen did a good job of mixing his pitches and threw three innings of shutout baseball. Llano will represent the district as the No 2 seed against District 7-3A. Llano is 12-13 overall and 7-3 in district. Liberty Hill finishes 22-5 overall and 9-1 in district play. Burnet is 13-11-3 overall and 6-4.
