Senior Isaac Hutto scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday night to give the Yellow Jackets a dramatic 5-4 playoff win over Venus.

Llano plays Venus at 3 p.m. Saturday to settle their first round Class 3A baseball playoff series. The Bulldogs won the first of the best-of-three contests 3-0 Thursday night in Venus. Saturday’s game will be played at Troy High School – a neutral site.

Catcher Kyle Tarter drove Hutto in with a one-out single. Hutto, breaking on the pitch, rounded third as the throw from Venus rightfielder Easton Brown sailed into the Llano dugout. Despite protests from Venus coach Gary Brown, the umps ruled Hutto had rounded third after the error, ending the game.

Pitcher Taylor Sorensen pitched 4 2/3 innings of shutout ball in relief of starter Holden Simpson to get the win.

Llano trailed 4-0 after three innings but tied the game with five hits in the sixth, setting up Tarter and Hutto’s dramatic hits.
