Mamie Inez Holbrook, 81, of Kingsland, passed away on June 23. She was born to Luther Everet and Thelma Irene (Reneau) Sloan in Phelps, Texas on Nov. 1, 1932. Mrs. Holbrook was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she was the Unit Chaplain for two years. She also participated in the Oak House Ministries for special needs kids. She worked various jobs in hotel/motel management, volunteered at the VA hospital in Kerrville, was a cab driver and was very active in the Cross and Spurs Cowboy Church in Lake Buchanan. She enjoyed knitting and needlepoint as hobbies and was known as the “Git er Done” Lady. She is survived by her three children, John E. Holbrook of Granite Shoals, Burl L. Holbrook and his wife Martha of Houston, and Ladonna Russell and her husband Ben of Kingsland; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, her foster children, Ronnie and Jana Reynolds of Forney, Texas, Eddie and Kathy Moore of Glen Rose, Texas, Steve Dunn of Kingsland, and Elizabeth “Betty” Hale of Marble Falls; sisters, Thelma Ladean Herrera of Kingsland, and Ouida Robertson of Llano. Numerous brothers-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews and a host of church family of friends also survive. Mamie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 three years, Herbert Leon Holbrook, a brother, Luther Sloan and sister, Sue Ella Woodard. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Herrera, Roy Moreno, Clint Pemberton, Buddy Bird, Greg North, and Alan Wagner. Larry Ligon, Mike Mauer, and Tracy McGuire will act as honorary pallbearers. A visitation was held 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Thursday, June 26 at Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 27 at Putnam Funeral Home, with Pastor Ken Barington officiating.
