Changes are coming soon to a meter box near you.
In a unanimous vote in a special called meeting Monday morning, the Llano City Council approved a change to the city’s meter contracts to install new meter boxes.
The motion, made by Alderman Bryan Miiller, will have the city installing new meter boxes flush to the ground with 1-inch above ground. The new boxes will have black lids and will work with the slope of the land.
An amendment to the motion to include financial costs, which amount to almost $30,000, also passed unanimously.
The decision came after about an hour of discussion and comments from Llano residents at the hour-and-a-half-long meeting where Josh Becker, city utility director, updated the city council on the status of the meter project.
