TxDOT moves brush

Texas Department of Transportation crews closed a lane of RR 2147 Thursday morning without notice and moved numerous piles of dead brush that were stacked on both sides of the roadway between Cottonwood Shores and Marble Falls since January to TX 71, just west of the new Scott & White medical center in Marble Falls.
But while that one-lane operation was underway, police worked two accidents on RR 2147 in Cottonwood Shores backed up by the brush removal. Both accidents occurred at about 10:30 a.m.
Cottonwood Shores Police Chief Harold Piatt said the first accident was a two-car fender bender, and the second involved four separate vehicles and seven total occupants. All declined transport to the hospital.
Last week TxDOT officials said the department was seeking other options for the disposal of heaps of brush on the RR 2147 right-of-way, and would consider moving the piles to safer areas where they could be burned. They had decided not to use a wood chipper to dispose of the material, citing costs.
