Tow house fire kills one

Ronald Sanderson ran inside his burning house, located on the 700 block of Edna Street in Tow, while attempting to save family members he believed were inside the home, according to Tow Volunteer Fire Department Chief Josh Becker.
Sanderson’s wife, Tiffany and the three children in the home escaped the fire unharmed.
According to Becker, Tiffany and the children escaped through the back door at the same time Ronald ran through the front door to find them. Both doors were located on the same side of the house, Becker said.
"After talking with a neighbor, we determined it basically happened simultaneously,” Becker said.
Officials were called to the scene at approximately 2 p.m. and the first fire truck arrived shortly after, but it was too late to save the home.
"When we showed up on scene, it was just a huge ball of fire and the house was already falling in on itself,” Becker said.
Becker attributed the home’s age and the wind as key reasons why the flames got out of hand so quickly.
The State Fire Marshall’s Office says the cause of the fire was undetermined.
