City Manager Brenton Lewis gave a positive analysis of the city-owned Llano River Golf Courseís direction under Southern Golf, saying the new management firm has a better grasp of collecting the different fees to help raise the courseís revenue, such as green fees, cart fees and membership.
Lewisís comments came at a Llano City Council budget
workshop held Thursday in the conference room of the Park Ridge Apartments in
When discussing the Llano River Golf Course, council members noticed a projected 34 percent increase in revenue. Llanoís city manager said the improvements on the course have reached the ears of golfers in surrounding areas as well.
"Iíve been hearing about people coming up from Austin now to play in Llano because they are tired of the courses in Austin,Ē he said.
Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Hazel has also noticed a change.
"Iíve been getting complaints from people who say they actually have to make tee times now,Ē he said. "Well, thatís a good thing.Ē
Lewis said the staff hopes to have a budget ready for the City Councilís next meeting on Sept. 3, and then adoption of it on Sept. 16. The proposed 2013-14 budget is approximately $11 million.
Lewis also reported the city is increasing
the admission fee for the swimming pool from $1.50 to $3.00. He said they are
considering extending the poolís hours and possibly keeping it open seven days
per week instead of six.
