Llano County keeps burn ban off

Commissioners Monday tabled reinstating the burn ban and approved an additional cell phone for a county narcotics officer.
The burn ban has been lifted since Sept. 23.
"We’ve had a lot of rain and we’re expecting even more,” said Precinct 1 Commissioner Peter Jones, who made the first motion to table the item.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Jerry Don Moss seconded this motion, and then noted how this benefits the annual bonfire hosted by Llano High School.
"Normally we’re under a burn ban this time of year and they have to get the county’s approval,” he said.
In other action, commissioners unanimously approved an increase in cell phone allowance for Sheriff Deputy Eric Van Pelt, a county narcotics officer.
"The reason for this is that Eric has people contacting him that he doesn’t want having his personal phone number,” explained Llano County Sheriff Bill Blackburn. He described the new phone as a "track phone.”
