From Staff Reports
Parents of Andy Roddick, Blanche and Jerry Roddick have donated a one-week stay at their river front cabin in Ruidoso, New Mexico to the Vegas by the River fundraising event benefiting the Roddick Youth Tennis Foundation (RYTF) Tennis Center in Granite Shoals, which will serve the Highland Lakes. Vegas By The River is being held 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 23 at Marble Falls’ Lakeside Pavilion and will feature casino games, music by john Arthur martinez, a silent auction and a chance for each ticket holder for a trip to Las Vegas to roll dice for a $1 million prize.
The river front cabin is fully modern, comes with huge deck and large hot tub, which is valued at $300 per night. Dates to be determined and owners allow one family or two couples with no pets.
The silent auction will include a rare Chicago Bulls jersey signed by Michael Jordan and a tennis racket signed by U.S. Open Champion Andy Roddick.
RYTF is a 501(c) (3) public charity, which develops and inspires underserved youth through education and sports-based mentoring so that each youth is a citizen of character prepared to succeed in the game of life. The foundation’s youth tennis program developed from the vision of Rene’ Lacoste and the experience of the Roddick family. Through tennis clinics and mentoring sessions, the youth tennis program focuses on: nutrition, social, career and academic potential, values for life and mentoring relationships.
The foundation is currently getting ready to build two full-size courts that will be open to the public and the Marble Falls Independent School District Athletic Program. Students of Highland Lakes Elementary have been able to participate in an after school program.
The foundation is still accepting silent auction items, and is offering sponsorships to the event for major donors.
The Las Vegas style casino event is being held to raise funds to build regulation tennis courts at the Roddick Youth Tennis Foundation Tennis Center in Granite Shoals for more information, sponsorships or tickets contact Dave Holder at firstname.lastname@example.org call 830.832.2799.
