Carolyn Marie Klaeger, 81, of Marble Falls, passed away on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. She was born to the late Shad and Alta Phillips on Aug. 5, 1932.
Carolyn grew up in Alice, Texas where she attended school and was a majorette. Joseph Hart Klaeger was attending a football game with his best friend, JB, and saw Carolyn twirling and immediately fell in love. Joe and JB both met their true loves at that game and shortly thereafter had a double wedding ceremony. Carolyn and Joe were married for over 60 years.
Carolyn and Joe raised three boys and became independent oil producers in Medina County, Texas. At retirement they moved to their favorite place in the world… the lake house on Lake Marble Falls, which they had owned since the late sixties.
Family was Carolyn’s passion and delight. She loved to have the houses full of kids and stayed very close to her childhood, lifelong friends. Carolyn loved sitting on the deck or in her living room looking out at all the boats on the lake and enjoyed watching the annual Lakefest Drag Boat Races from her backyard. She continued to share picnics by the lake with family and friends up until the week before she passed. Her children and grandchildren learned to fish and ski on Lake Marble Falls, and two of her great grandchildren now fish off her dock.
Carolyn was happy as she passed, stating that Joe was there fishing and was ready to take her to heaven with him. A continuous legacy of true love.
Carolyn is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Joe Klaeger and son, Dale Klaeger. She is survived by her brother, Aldie Phillips, and sisters, Ozell Ramos and Charlotte Proulx. Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of unending love for her sons, Joseph H. Klaeger, Jr. "Buddy”, and Robert A. Klaeger, and his wife, Donna Klaeger and grandchildren, Stacy Herrera and husband, Gabe, Jennifer Lynn Crow, Kaci Klaeger, Ashlee Klaeger, Megan Klaeger, Charles Boyd and wife, Lindsay, and Bobi Klaeger. Carolyn loved being with her grandchildren as they grew up and was so excited to be able to love her five great-grandchildren, Jared and Luke Herrera, Chandlar Hart Klaeger, Charles Wesley Boyd II, and Dane Joseph Trevino.
There will be a private memorial held in memory of Carolyn at her request. The family wishes to thank Teresa Grider, Mary Rodriguez Lira and her family, Christy Rodriguez, and Margaret Rogers for caring for Carolyn, which enabled her to live her final years of life at home.
Carolyn has always loved helping kids. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Christian School Scholarship Fund, 501 12th Street in Marble Falls, Texas.
Arrangements were provided by Clements Wilcox in Marble Falls. Online guest book, tributes and memorials can be made on line at www.dignitymemorial.com/clements-wilcox-funeral-home-marble.
