October 20, 2012, 1:30 pm by Adam Troxtell

A Llano woman was killed in a car accident Friday in Louisiana after another vehicle crossed into on-coming traffic.

Louisiana State Police reported Guadalupe L. Stinespring, 71, of Llano dead at the scene after the 2010 Mazda 3 she was traveling in was involved in a head-on collision on US 290 near the town of Ragley in southwestern Louisiana. The driver, 71-year-old Robert L. Stinespring, was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Police suspect 59-year-old George L. Hodges Jr. of DeQuincy, La., fell asleep at the wheel of his 2006 Honda Accord before it crossed from the eastbound into the westbound lane and hit the Mazda being driven by Stinespring. DeQuincy was also taken to the hospital with moderate injuries and has been charged with driving left of center. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, and toxicology samples have been taken from both drivers.
