Two arrested in church parking lotNovember 16, 2012, 5:00 pm by James Walker
Burnet County Sheriff deputies arrested two men in the parking lot of a Burnet church Wednesday and subsequently charged them with possession of methamphetamine. Members of the sheriff’s department’s Special Operations Unit observed a car in the parking lot of the Hill Country Fellowship Church in Burnet after spotting two men in the car, one of which was known to have outstanding felony warrant out of Llano County, according to a sheriff’s department news release. Sheriff’s deputies subsequently stopped the car and the passenger, 32-year-old Paul Quinton Nash, was arrested after deputies said they found what they believed to be methamphetamine. The driver of the car, 39-year-old Robert Michael Taylor of Georgetown, was found to have an active warrant by the City of Burnet and was taken into custody. Taylor also was believed to be in possession of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest. Both men were charged with Possession of Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 with more than one gram but less than four grams in a drug free zone and were transported to the Burnet County Jail. Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 in a Drug Free Zone is a Felony of the Second Degree and is punishable by confinement of no less than two years and not more than 20 years and an optional fine not to exceed $10,000. |
