Hilderbran holds town hall meetingDecember 04, 2012, 9:00 pm by Lyn Odom
A Llano town meeting Tuesday spotlighted a pre-legislative review by state Rep. Harvey Hilderbran (R-Kerrville) of District 53 to inform residents of some of the issues coming up in the 83rd Legislative session slated for January. Hilderbran, who also sits on the Ways and Means Committee, said Texas continues to be the biggest jobs state, biggest business state, and is more fiscally conservative than the U.S. government and Congress. The possible resolutions Hilderbran will address in the legislative session include items all related to financial issues including the state’s infrastructure, transportation, public education, higher education and water. Hilderbran said that work has been done regionally to create an ongoing system of loans and matching grants, "And we’re going to see more of that this session.” "We’re not seeing many transportation issues in this region,” Hilderbran said. "Our infrastructure are largely rural areas and our revenue picture is better than it was. We are seeing bigger trucks in some rural areas and more will unfold over the next few weeks and months. Members (of the House) are responding.” For more of this story, see Wednesday's Llano County Journal. |
