Felony suspect leads H’Bay Police on foot-chase

A felony suspect led Horseshoe Bay Police Officers on an hour and a half long foot chase Monday morning, ending in an arrest.

Michael Weber, 21, was arrested on the shore of Slick Rock Creek at 11:19 a.m. after a chase that began at Fault Line Dr. at 9:41 a.m. Weber was wanted on a warrant out of Travis County for a probation violation in connection with a previous charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child and an additional charge of evading arrest after running from Cottonwood Shores officers in mid November. Horseshoe Bay Police were notified by Cottonwood Shores Police that Michael Weber, whose last known address was in Cottonwood Shores, was said to be working on a construction site on Fault Line Dr., said Horseshoe Bay Police.

On Monday morning, Horseshoe Bay Police attempted to apprehend Weber at the site, but he fled on foot, leading officers on a chase through rough terrain and thick forest for over an hour and a half. Much of the chase took place along shorelines and through residential properties. Police said many residents called in about the suspicious Weber as he ran through their yards. Police said Weber crossed through the community of Escondido and dove into the lake, where he swam to Oak Ridge. He then ran across the Ferguson Replacement Power Plant construction site and dove into Slick Rock Creek, where he was cornered by officers on foot and a police patrol boat.
