Meet Journal’s new salesman

December 26, 2012, 10:00 pm by Staff Reports

The Llano County Journal has a new sales representative bringing more than 20 years of retail consulting and marketing experience to clients of the newspaper.

John Young has been busy introducing himself to business owners throughout Llano, Kingsland and surrounding areas.

"I’m happy to be back here,” Young said. "My family and I live in Buchanan Dam. I lived in Llano County as a kid and have family ties in Llano that go way back.”

Young brings with him a wealth of knowledge when it comes to retail and internet marketing and believes the importance of putting together at least a 30-day marketing plan with a budget that best benefits clients.

"My long term goal is to make my clients happy with the results,” Young said. "I want to know about their businesses so I can help. I don't want to just print ordinary ads; I want to make cash registers sing."

Young has worked with three major retail consulting companies over the past two decades, in 36 states and four Provinces in Canada, mainly helping small business owners sell their assets to retire or pursue other interests. Prior to that, he worked in retailing.

Young enjoys sharing his knowledge of how marketing has changed over time and what business owners can do to answer today’s challenges with strong and affordable advertising plans.

"Business owners wear many hats,” Young said. " And if I can give some relief of the stress of creating cash flow with great advertising suggestions, then that's rewarding for everyone.”

Young is currently working on finalizing commitments to the 2013 Lake Country Newcomers’ Guide, which includes Llano County and the Highland Lakes area. He's already added a free internet slideshow upgrade to the guide’s advertising package, which will extend the reach of the glossy magazine into the digital world.
