100 Club honors first respondersJanuary 17, 2013, 9:00 pm by Alexandria Randolph
Hundreds of law enforcement and emergency responder personnel and their families came together Thursday evening at the Marble Falls Lakeside Pavilion to honor their best. The Hill Country 100 Club’s annual awards banquet and business meeting met to recognize 46 officers, deputies, firefighters and EMT’s for outstanding service to their departments and communities. Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst was the primary speaker for the event, and the new officers were announced for the club’s board. Craig Haydon, who has served on the board for 10 years, will continue his role as Chairman. "The board wanted me to serve as Chairman again,” Haydon said. "This will be my second year.” Haydon said that he has enjoyed serving on the Hill Country 100 Club Board. "I’ve always been supportive of law enforcement and firefighters. I worked with members of the 100 Club in Houston who asked me to get involved out here,” he said. "The worst times of all (on the board) are when we have a responder that loses their life. That’s the worst thing about the job. The nice thing is watching people develop.” For the full story, see Friday's Highlander. |
