The 89th Annual Llano Chamber of Commerce Banquet was a smashing success Jan. 29, with more than 200 people in attendance and nine people being honored for their work in the community.

Chamber Chairman David Griffith welcomed the crowd and announced the awards including two Special Recognitions, five Educators of the Year and two Hall of Fame recipients.

Griffith called Kevin Leeper, CEO of Scott and White Hospital – Llano, to the podium to present a Special Recognition award to recently retired hospital senior executive assistant Mary Rhodes, who for 18 years worked within the hospital’s system.

"Eighteen years ago we were blessed with Mary’s joy, smiling face and organizational skills,” said Leeper. "For the last 10 to 12 years she has been the number one pitchman for the services we deliver. She left us two months ago and retired. I appreciate all she has done.”
