I cannot believe that there was no warning of this extensive closure--no where on Marble Falls own website, Burnet County or sheriff's dept, or Tx dot. It was tied up longer than an hour !!!
We finally gave up and went to Johnson City and South 281--along with MANY MANY other people.
It wasn't just 281 in to town either--71 West was stopped also cause we tried to go that way also and turned around. Unforgiveable for tourism and hate to think what bad PR it is for Marble Falls and how many businesses lost revenue. and apparently it continues tomorrow--- again no mention on any of their websites.

Kudos Marble Falls, Well Done!!! This is what you call making changes to the route so it is better than last year? What great elected officials we have... How about the money wasted in Diesel Fuel for 2 hours of sitting in traffic? I can't believe it is legal to shut down a HIGHWAY for a bunch of out of towners so they can slowly run, bike, swim circles around our city, all so they can pat themselves on the back.... I think when 1st 2nd and 3rd place comes home the rest should pack up and go home...Not waste OUR time...Thanks again morons at marble falls

Along with many others my husband and I sat for one hour and forty one minutes to travel from Hwy 71 to Marble Falls. Totally unacceptable and ridiculous to inconvenience so many people. What made anyone think this could be good for Marble Falls?

the organizers should have alerted the people
of cottonwood shores and horseshoe bay that
there were to be traffic problems. the organizer
could have closed one lane on the bridge, so
only to have traffic move slower rather then be
at stand still for long period of time

My husband and I are still in shock as we do not mind delays but two hours and we gave up and took the county road back to Spicewood as quick as we could get to the turn off. Would not have been good if one was trying to get someone to the doctor or some very important appointment. Totally unacceptable. I feel sure those types of events will be handled differently in the future. A friend went Saturday morning and gave up and tried again at four in the afternoon and gave up and and turned off as soon as possible. Wonder how much gas was wasted as people waited in line to attempt to get to their destination?
