Marble Falls City Council approved the final plans for the Wayne & Eileen Hurd Regional Medical Center at a special meeting Tuesday afternoon. Council also put their stamp of approval on the addition of 25.78 acres to the Scott & White Subdivision in Marble Falls.
"This is the biggest project this city has ever seen and hopefully it’s going to be a game changer for us and for Scott & White,” said Mayor George Russell.
Approval of the plans will allow Scott & White to build infrastructure on the property but they will not be able to build vertically until a building permit has been issued.
"They will probably not start with the physical vertical construction of the hospital building for six months. We will be ready to issue the building permit in a month or two- within 60 days." said Director of Development Services Caleb Kraenzel.
The hospital building will be 186,000 square feet and will
have four levels including a basement. In addition to the hospital building, The Medical Center will include support facilities, parking spaces, a helicopter landing pad and areas for future expansion.
