City will save the honeybees in Badu Park

The old oak tree in Badu Park has some unique residents that
initially put the City of Llano in a perplexing situation.
On one hand, honeybees serve an important purpose in the environment. However, if they get out of hand, these insects can also be hazardous.
The city ultimately found the perfect solution when Llano
Mayor Mikel Virdell contacted Walter Schumacher of Central Texas Bee Rescue.
Virdell credits City Secretary Toni Milam for helping find
Schumacher, who is working to move the hive without killing the bees.
"It seemed like the right thing to do,” Virdell said.
Schumacher, who calls himself a "bee czar,”
said the main risk these bees pose is that the colony could potentially grow
too big for their vessel. Once they run out of room, the food storage lessens
and they can become violent, angry and aggressive.
