Burnet County officials confirm turn lane for RR 2147

Burnet County officials confirmed Wednesday that TxDOT will begin a project to add a turn lane to RR 2147 between Horseshoe Bay east city limits and Cottonwood Shores east city limits.
Officials said at a press conference Wednesday morning that state and federal funding had been secured for the project, which is expected to go to bid in August 2015.
"(Ranch Road) 2147 is a major arterial roadway,” said Joe Don Dockery, Burnet County Commissioner for Precinct 4. "Seventy-seven hundred vehicles use this roadway every day. We feel the project will decrease accidents caused by turning.”
Dockery said the project would begin at the Peninsula in
Horseshoe Bay and would end at the eastern city limits of Cottonwood Shores, a
1.5 mile stretch. The estimated budget for the project is $1.6 million.
