Fish fry to help firefighter's family

While state and other benefits have been limited, a local restaurant in Buchanan Dam has stepped up to the plate and decided to host a charity event Saturday to assist the family of Ronald Sanderson, the former Tow Volunteer Firefighter who died last month when his house caught fire.
Rev. Jimís Dam Pub in Buchanan Dam is hosting a Fish Fry Benefit, and all proceeds will go directly to Sandersonís widow, Tiffany.
Sanderson was killed July 5 after running into his burning Tow home to rescue Tiffany and their three children, who he believed were still inside. Tiffany and all three children escaped the blaze unharmed.
Tow VFD Chief Josh Becker reported no donations to the family from state or federal funds, aside from the $10,000 survivorís benefit from the Hill Country 100 Club, which is a non-profit organization.
Sanderson was not officially a member of the Tow VFD at the time of his death, having recently moved back to the area. However, he had previously been a member for 10 years and had applied for reinstatement. Becker said a scheduling conflict and paperwork were all that prevented him from making his return official.
