100 Club plans annual tourney

The Hill Country 100 Club is hosting the 7th Annual Golf Tournament at Escondido Golf Course on Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. The Hoffpauir Auto Group is the Platinum sponsor of the event for the second year.
Hill Country 100 officials said the tournament is the largest fundraiser of the year and has been a "sell-out” the last several years. Players are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start as a four-person scramble.
The event benefits the Hill Country 100 Club, a non-profit organization that provides financial support to the dependents of emergency response personnel who die or are injured.
"Our primary purpose is to provide benefits for the
surviving spouse and family of first responders in the case of death or
disability,” said Ed Brooks, a Hill Country 100 Director.
The Hill Country 100 Club provides for responders in Lampasas, Llano, Burnet and Blanco counties, and Brooks said that the death of 41-year-old Ronald Sanderson, a Tow Volunteer Firefighter on July 5, was the first emergency responder death that the club had faced in the four-county area in several years.
"We provided a $10,000 check to his wife, Tiffany,” Brooks said.
In addition to the loss of Sanderson, 19 first responders were lost in wildfires in Arizona in mid-July.
"That’s just a very tragic occurrence. They all are,” Brooks said. "All these first responders; every day they put their lives at risk and we need to support them.”
The tournament will be held at the Tom Fazio-designed private golf course. There will be two flights and a possible ladies’ flight. All par 3’s will have new cars or other high value prizes for any Holes-in-One. Shirts, hats, towels and golf balls will be given to every participant and each winning team member will receive a plaque and gift certificate. Lunch, soft drinks, beer and wine also will be provided.
To register, contact Joe Holtsag at 830.598.5334 or Ed Brooks at 512.461.6977. Entry fees are $1,000 per team or $250 for a single, which will be placed on a team. Those desiring to sponsor the tournament should contact Tina Morgan at 830.85.3721. For more information about the Hill Country 100 Club, visit www.hillcountry100club.org.
