Commissioners lift burn ban

Precinct 4 Commissioner Jerry Don Moss on Monday made the first motion to lift the ban, which was quickly seconded by Precinct 2 Commissioner Linda Raschke, who said she had received approximately a dozen phone calls regarding whether commissioners would lift the ban.
"If we’re going to do this, I think we should do it now,” she said.
Judge Wayne Brascom agreed, saying he had also received questions from numerous citizens asking what action the court would take on the item.
"Things are looking greener,” he said, "and I think they are projecting about a 20 percent chance of rain again this weekend.”
In other action, commissioners also authorized the county election administrator to use social media for election information.
Election Administrator Cindy Ware said the department plans to use Facebook and Twitter as tools to give citizens easier access to information, noting their website now is somewhat difficult to reach. Among the benefits, she said they could give alerts and post results that night.
