Duo pitches 'tiny houses' to P&Z

Marion Bishop and Janie Vaught told board members that, in a sense, these homes are a way to "move forward by taking a step back.”
Most tiny houses are around 200-500 square feet, Bishop
said, and referenced how pioneers managed to live in spaces similar to these
while traveling in covered wagons.
"The utilization of space with these homes is done to the maximum,” he said. "It’s a step backward from mansions because frankly, you don’t need that much space, especially if you’re single.”
He said these homes are smaller than cottages and differ from shacks because they have a kitchen and bathroom. Bishop also added that tiny houses are constructed like conventional homes—unlike mobile homes— and are built to code.
