Kimble County judge throws hat in District 53 ring

The Kimble County judge has announced his intention to leave his current position in order to run as a Republican for State Representative District 53, which includes Llano County.
Current District 53 State Rep. Harvey Hilderbran announced that, instead of seeking re-election, he plans to run for Texas State Comptroller.
Andrew Stevenson Murr has been Kimble County Judge since 2008. He said numerous citizens across the region have asked him to pursue this seat, and believes his experience as county judge—such as attending numerous hearings and testifying before the legislature in Austin— puts him in a unique position to benefit the region.
"I understand both the benefits of good legislation and the
detriments of unwanted legislature at the local level, and I think that relates
well to our communities,” he said.
Murr said he would be a "tireless advocate”
for region-specific interests such as water, education, small business,
agriculture, property rights and oil and gas matters.
