Voters in the Hoover Valley community again rejected the establishment of an Emergency Services District that would provide firefighting services in the area, but Spicewood voters overwhelmingly approved one for their community in elections Tuesday.
Also, residents of the Oakalla and Briggs communities voted to assess themselves a two percent sales tax for their ESD 8.
Hoover Valley residents, who had rejected attempts to create an ESD on two other occasions, overwhelmingly said no again.
The vote was 250-71, 78 percent to 22 percent, against the proposition.
Spicewood voters were almost exactly opposite in favoring the creation of ESD 9.
The vote was 297-113, 72 percent to 28 percent, in favor of creating the ESD.
In Oakalla and Briggs, in the ESD sales tax election, the vote was 54-39, 58 percent in favor and 42 percent against authorizing the tax.
