A Novel Solution

Jan Douglas Miller’s world went silent for short durations of time during his career as trial lawyer when his hearing would short out with no warning or no apparent reason, much like a malfunctioning stereo system.
That changed one morning in 2012.
"I started getting ringing in my ears and my hearing would go in and out – sometimes it would cut out but only momentarily and then it would cut back on,” the Horseshoe Bay novelist said. "One morning in 2012, I woke up, and I knew the alarm was going off because I could see the flashing, but I couldn’t hear it.
"So, I started clapping, and I couldn’t hear a thing.”
