Warmer temperatures short lived

Forecasts predict warmer temperatures next week, but another arctic front is on the way.
In his weather blog, Lower Colorado River Authority Meteorologist Bob Rose said precipitation should clear up on Saturday, leading to warmer temperatures.
"Friday’s rain should clear out by Saturday morning. Dry and mild weather will be in place Saturday through Sunday with high temperatures in the mid 50s. Low temperature Sunday and mornings will be at or just below freezing across the Hill Country and Central Texas regions,” he wrote.
LCRA reported Friday morning rain totals as follows: Big Sandy Creek near Jonestown, .31 inches; Cow Creek near Lago Vista, .29; Spicewood, .26; Marble Falls, .18; Round Mountain, .24; Kingsland, .11; Llano, .16; Buchanan Dam, .11; Tow, .16; Burnet, .17; and Bertram, .16.
LCRA forecasts predict that Saturday will see a high of 55 degrees with mostly sunny skies. Sunday will see a high of 57, followed by a high of 63 on Monday.
Rose said that long-range forecasts are predicting another artic event "to take place late next week into next weekend when a large ridge of high pressure in the upper atmosphere off the West Coast builds north to Alaska and at the same time, a deep trough of low pressure develops south across western Canada and the western US. This pattern will allow bitterly cold air from eastern Asia to flow across the North Pole and eventually south into the U.S.,” he wrote. "The model indicates the leading edge of the arctic air will reach North Texas sometime next Friday. Much colder temperatures look to spread south late Friday and into the weekend. Forecast data indicate this next outbreak of cold air will be as cold as and possibly slightly colder than the arctic air we experienced just a week ago.”
