School board awards bid

The Llano Independent School District’s Board of Trustees Monday awarded a bid for technology switches and approved calling a regular school trustee election for two board seats in May.
The board approved the purchase of $86,177 worth of switches from the company TFE. These are intended to replace outdated switches in the district. Llano ISD Director of Technology Jim Beasley said a majority of the upgrades would occur at the Llano High School where the amount of personal computers (PC’s) has created a network overload. The last upgrade was in 2007, he added.
"This core switch we’re putting in is going to carry us for a few years, at the high school at least,” he said.
In addition, as the district has moved more toward wireless devices, Beasley said the new switches would assist with the extra traffic flow.
