City Council members also discussed a possible amendment to the backflow prevention ordinance and received an update from Southern Golf on the city golf course at its Jan. 21 meeting.
The city recently made a change to an ordinance involving the testing of backflow preventers on properties connected to the public water system, per the recommendation from a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) representative.
As part of the proposed change, the city would conduct the inspection and then bill the customer for the cost to ensure the inspection occurred annually and properly.
City Manager Brenton Lewis reported Jan. 21 that TCEQ had approved the new ordinance. If city council were to make changes, they would need to resubmit it for approval, Lewis said.
