Sales tax revenue on increase

Both Burnet and Llano counties have started 2013 off with some good economic news, as both will see increases in the amount of December sales tax allocations they receive this month compared to last year.

For the county, Burnet’s figures saw an 11 percent jump, while Llano will get 3.86 percent more. December sales tax revenue in the state was up 9.4 percent at $2.17 billion, and $530.8 million of that will go out to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts in allocations.

"Strong sales tax collections continue in most major economic sectors in Texas,” said State Comptroller Susan Combs, whose office handles sales tax allocations. "The strongest growth was from business spending-driven sectors including oil and natural gas, manufacturing and construction.”
