Dog dragged behind car on the mendAugust 13, 2012, 6:00 pm by Alexandria Randolph
A 27-year-old woman accused of dragging her 5-pound Chihuahua-Yorkie mix behind her vehicle last week has posted $5,000 bail and her pet is being held in the care of the family of an anonymous Marble Falls police officer. "Some people witnessed the woman dragging the dog behind her truck on a 15-foot leash,” said Marble Falls Police Captain Glen Hanson. "They said the dog was not able to keep up and was just being drug down the street.” Hanson said after a witness reported the incident, Officer Tina Harvey responded to Avenue R at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday. "There were no indications that (Sanchez) was under the influence of any (substances),” Hanson said. "She gave no reason for why she was not walking the dog on foot.” Maricela Martinez Sanchez, a Marble Falls resident, reportedly told officers that she was driving at 5-8 miles per hour, and would stop every so often for the dog.
