BOERNE  -- Llano’s epic 27-point fourth quarter could not overcome the Boerne Greyhounds Friday at BISD Stadium.

The host Greyhounds won their homecoming game, 35-27, for the second straight thriller at the stadium in as many nights.

The Llano Yellow Jackets trailed 21-0 and were backed up on their own 5-yard line with 6:46 left in the third quarter, but came out determined.

Llano drove 95 yards in 17 plays with Rhett Brooks scoring on a 3-yard run to get the Jackets on the board. Storey Tatsch kicked the PAT.

After Nathan Walden recovered an the ensuing onside kick, Brooks scored again on a 26-yard run.

Boerne answered with Bryce Collins scoring on 15-yard run to cap a 51-yard, eight-play drive to make it a 28-14 game.

Collins was the only Greyhound ballcarrier and finished with 26 carries for 241 yards.

Brooks added another 18-yard screen pass from Layton Rabb for Llano’s next score. Tatsch made it 28-21 with his Pat with 6:16 left.

Boerne quarterback Quinten Dormady hit Collins on a 29-yard pass to push the score to 35-21.

Rabb scored from eight yards with 49 seconds left for the final points.

Boerne players were playing with a heavy heart after head coach Mike Dormady lost his brother earlier in the week. Dormady missed two days of practice, but the team responded with a strong effort in honor of their coach.

Both teams are 2-2 after Friday’s battle.
