Llano falls in second half

BROWNWOOD – Llano’s Rhett Brooks ended his senior season in style Friday night, playing hard to the end.

Despite the senior’s efforts, the Yellow Jackets dropped a 41-13 decision to Brownwood at Gordon Wood Stadium in the season finale for Llano.

Brooks, one of several two-way starters for Llano, sacked Brownwood quarterback Chris Keesee on the game’s final play.

Brooks also rushed for 62 yards on 13 carries and caught two passes for nine yards as a running back for the Jackets.

Brownwood held a slim 15-7 led at halftime, but pulled away after intermission to secure the win and the second seed in District 8-3A.

Gatesville, Brownwood and Burnet are the three playoff representatives from the district after Friday’s action.

Brownwood finishes the regular season 6-4 overall and 4-1 in district. Llano fell to 3-7 and 1-4, losing its final three games to the playoff representatives.

Llano’s Carter Tatsch scored on a five-yard run in the first quarter and Matt Center caught a 14-yard pass from Layton Rabb in the fourth quarter for Llano’s two touchdowns.

Brownwood had 364 total yards with 209 on the ground and 155 passing. Llano totaled 179 yards. Rabb as 10 of 20 passing for 71 yards.
