Marble Falls’ Wright had to settle for second place with a 17:02 time the 5K race.
Wright said he wasn’t at his best Saturday, but will chalk it up as a good workout heading into this week’s Round Rock McNeil Invitational at Old Settler’s Park.
"We’re been running against each other since the seventh grade,’’ Wright said. "There have been stretches where I couldn’t beat him and he couldn’t beat me. He got the best of me today.’’
The weather conditions were perfect, but the layout at the Fredericksburg course has its challenges. Also Wright started out with a rapid pace for the first mile and didn’t hav the extra push at the end.
The course has a lot of up and down terrain and the surface has plenty of sketchy footing.
"There are a lot of hills out here,’’ Wright said. "I look forward to running next week at Round Rock.’’
