Llano seniors Layton Rabb and Isaac Hutto fueled a 13-7 run in overtime to give the Yellow Jackets their first varsity boys basketball playoff win since the late 1970s Tuesday at Dublin High School.
Llano won the overtime thriller, 55-49, over the Alvarado Indians. Llano will face Kennedale in the area round of the Class 3A playoffs Friday at a site to be determined.
Llano (21-13) relied on senior Hutto, who had 17 points. Hutto’s late season play has been a big factor in Llano’s surge.
The post was seven of nine from the free throw line, a marked improvement for the senior.
"He’s unstoppable and if he hits his free throws we usually win,’’ said senior Eli Tiffin.
Jai Bhakta scored five of 11 points in the overtime period.
Joey Albor delivered a key 3-pointer for a six-point Llano lead with 1:22 left in the overtime and gave the Jackets momentum to pull off the victory.
Kennedale beat Iowa Park, 82-47, in its bi-district playoff on Monday.
