Llano beats Glen Rose, faces Porcupines next

Llano’s Cierra Jordan had 13 kills and teammate Jessica Wunderlich added 10 kills in the Yellow Jackets 25-21, 25-15, 26-24 bi-district victory over Glen Rose Tuesday night at Midway High School.

The Yellow Jackets advance to the area round Thursday night against the Springtown Porcupines. The match is 7 p.m. at Stephenville High School.

Llano could face District 8-3A rival Liberty Hill in the third round. Liberty Hill faces Mineral Wells in the area round.

Other matchups in Region I-3A are Abilene Wylie-Amarillo River Road and Monahans –Levelland.

The Region I tournament is held I Snyder. The other regional sites are Mesquite Bryan and San Antonio.

Against Glen Rose, the Lady Yellow Jackets "displayed a lot of poise and determination,’’ said coach Shawn Sweeten-Meredith.

Cheyenne Swenson ran the offense well with 15 assists while Amanda Morgan added nine assists.

Wunderlich was a standout with her 10 kills, one block, eight digs and three aces.

The Lady Yellow Jackets earned their playoff berth with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-23 win over Burnet Nov. 23 in the season finale for Llano.

Llano is making its fourth playoff appearance in seven seasons under coach Shawn Sweeten-Meredith.

The Lady Mustangs advanced three round deep in 2009, losing to district rival Liberty Hill that season.

Llano is 19-21 on the season and were 6-4 in District 8-3A.
