Weary Lady Jackets learn lessons of the road

It was a weary time – and understandably so. Their record had dropped to 4-7 after back-to-back losses to Blanco and Boerne. They’d only had one home match in 11 games and were in store for more road trips in the August heat.
All told, the Lady Jackets are living out of suitcases from Aug. 13, when they lost a match to Kerrville Tivy at Llano to Sept. 3, when they host Fredericksburg. They’ve traveled to Austin twice, Gatesville twice and to Georgetown, Boerne, Manor, Bandera and Leander.
And we’re not talking about hotel rooms, either. It’s get home from, say, Austin at midnight and return at 6 a.m. the next day.
Since losing to Boerne on Aug. 20, the Llano ladies have won four of five matches to even their record to 8-8. So what happened?
"We played so poorly against Boerne, we had to change,” coach John Black said. "That was the night we finally decided not to worry about things like whose-was-at-fault-for-what, or who-said-what-to-whom. That was the night we began to really – emotionally – come together as a team.
