Llano girls improve to 2-1 in district

LLANO – Senior Center Jessica Wunderlich does the little things for the Llano Lady Jackets – setting picks, grabbing offensive rebounds and making quick, accurate passes to cutters attacking the basket.
On Friday night before an enthusiastic Llano crowd, the Lady Jackets climbed into the upper half of District 8-3A by dominating Gatesville 45-28. Wunderlich led all scorers with 14 points in a game neither could afford to lose.
By winning, Llano moved to 2-1 in district play (12-17 on the season). Gatesville dropped to 0-3 and 9-13.
No one would blame the visiting Lady Hornets for cratering. Coach Chris Carroll has lost five key players since the season started – three to torn ACLs and two more to other injuries. Only eight GHS players yellow-dogged the 104 miles from Gatesville to Llano.
The Lady Jackets host Burnet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15.
