BANDERA – Llano withstood a furious Bandera comeback to win 39-26 Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.

The outmanned Bulldogs pulled to within seven points and were dominating the second half until Yellow Jacket quarterback Layton Rabb connected with Isaac Hutto for 68 yards on the next to last play of the third quarter. Allen Lucas scored from 21 yards on the next play to push Llano (2-1) to a 33-19 lead.

Llano marched 63 yards in 15 plays to salt away the win, chewing up seven minutes and 20 seconds of clock.

Senior Rhett Brooks scored on a fake field goal attempt with 33 second left to make it 39-26. Bandera is 0-3 on the season.

Rabb completed 11 of 17 passes for 226 yards.

Llano rolled up 431 yards of offense, but was penalized 11 times for 85 yards.

Bandera runners Fabian Muniz and Michael Miller led the Bulldogs to 371 yards rushing.

"We did not tackle well,’’ Llano coach Craig Slaughter said. "We were in big trouble in the third quarter until we hit the pass to Hutto. That turned everything around for us. It was the play of the game.’’

Llano will play at Boerne next week, marking the Yellow Jackets third straight week to be a homecoming guest.
