Faith Academy puts itself in driver's seat

October 19, 2012, 11:00 pm by Mark Goodson

Faith Academy rolled to a big first half lead and beat the Texas School for the Deaf, 33-12, Friday night in Marble Falls.

The Flames’ Brian Freeman continues his dominance, scoring on runs of 27 and 82 yards in the game.

Jason Byrd added a 19-yard touchdown run and Austin Ellis scored from one yard out. Seth McAnally added a one-yard dive play for the final score with 3:54 left in the second quarter. Freeman kicked the 33rd point.

"They were the district favorites, so we fell good about where we are now,’’ Faith Academy coach Russell Roberts said. "This puts us in the driver’s seat.’’

The Flames are 7-0 on the field this season and also picked up a forfeit this week with the Giddings State School forfeited the remainder of its games.

With the forfeit, Faith Academy is 8-0 overall and 3-0 in its TAPPS district.

They play Texas Christian at Waco next week and then close with Central Texas Christian at Temple on Nov. 2.
