Frank Flanagan July 17, 1925 ~ Nov. 3, 2012

Francis Flanagan, known as Frank to those who loved him, peacefully departed this world for the next at his home on Nov. 3, after a long and courageous battle against Parkinson’s Disease.
Flanagan was born on July 17, 1925 in Brooklyn, N.Y. In July 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served four years in the Pacific as a Chief Cook before being honorably discharged. He re-enlisted in Dec. 1947, and was honorably discharged the following year.
In 1976, he met Dorothy Wiswell, and they were married on Feb. 12, 1977. He and Dorothy enjoyed traveling around the country while Flanagan served as a construction supervisor for Torrey Construction, building Black Angus restaurants. When he retired, they returned to the Texas hill country, settling in the Marble Falls area. In 2011, the couple moved from Meadowlakes, leaving behind many dear friends, in order to move closer to family in Houston.
Flanagan is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Dorothy; son Sean Flanagan of Amarillo; Dorothy’s daughters Sharon and husband David Mills of Houston, Laura and husband Rick Vail of Pinson, Ala., and Elaine and husband Bob Peterson of Austin; grandchildren Jennifer Rodriguez and fiancé Bryan Elliott, Daniel Rodriguez and wife Rebecca, Kevin Guy and wife Rhiana, and David Guy; and four great-grandchildren Alanna and Annabel Gustin, and Audrey and Jaxson Guy.
Fond memories of Flanagan include his love of traveling this country, his quiet smile and twinkling blue eyes, his delicious cooking - especially "Pop’s Ribs”, and his expression, "bless you, Sugar” when family said goodbye.
Family and friends will have a celebration of his life on Nov. 10, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Levy Funeral Directors, 4525 Bissonnet, in Bellaire, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or the Hospice Foundation of America. The family is very grateful for the caring attention provided by the nurses of Resolutions Hospice during Frank’s final days. Bless you, Frank, for sharing your life with us.
