He was born May 23, 1936, in Algona, Iowa. He was the eldest of three children born to Edward Daniel and Margaret (Mitchell) Kelly. His family and service to his community were a top priority in his life. He married Karen Leitch in January 1971 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Together they had four children: three amazing daughters and a fourth who was fairly decent. Kelly spent many of his later years inspiring people at the Men’s Center in Houston.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother John Edward Kelly. Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 6-8:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 29 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris, Bellaire, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in his honor at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 30, at the All Saints Catholic Church, 215 E. 10th St. in Houston, where he was a member. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1 at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dr. Daniel Kelly’s honor to The Men’s Center, 3809 Main St, Houston, Texas 77002.
