Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Dec. 14 at Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin.
A Rosary led by the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus was said at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, both services at St. James Catholic Church in Seguin, Texas.
Entombment followed in St. James Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
Scopel was born Aug. 2, 1936, in Houston, to Primo J. and Maria (Biondini) Scopel.
He is survived by wife Kay Keil Scopel of Seguin; daughter Sharon Lea (Scopel) Ferguson and husband Leonard Ferguson of Richmond; son Robert Scopel and fiancée Sharon Vandergriff of Stinnett, Texas; granddaughter Erin Victoria Ferguson of Richmond; brothers Allen J. Scopel and wife Suzy of Rosenberg, Texas, Paul A. Scopel and wife Eda of Marietta, Ga., and James Scopel of Manvel, Texas; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, personal and professional friends.
