Ramona J. Wefler
Ramona Joyce Wefler, 84, of Nederland, Texas, and formerly of Marble Falls, passed away from cancer Dec. 1 after a long and storied life. Wefler was born in Indiana, but found a life of adventure and travel with her husband, U.S. Army Maj. (Ret.) John D. Wefler, who proceeded her in death in 2004. She was tenacious, vivacious, and delightfully stubborn. While her husband was deployed, Wefler went straight to work to provide for her family and assist her country during the war effort. During their lives together, the couple raised their children in a variety of locales and spent their golden years traveling to almost every state in the U.S. and Canada. Her family will always remember her tales of the splendor of Okinawa, the islands of Hawaii, and the shores of California, all of which they made their home.
Despite having lived a long and wonderful life, Wefler is preceded in death by her husband, daughter Johnette Wiede, and son James Wefler, both of which she looked forward to seeing again after her passing.
Wefler is survived by daughters Melinda Louise, and Marian Wilke and husband Richard Wilke; son David S. Wefler and wife Debra Wefler; son-in-law Thomas Weide; grandchildren Brianna Marcus, John D. Wefler III, Ashley Wiede, and David L.Wefler; and great-granddaughter Kaiya Wefler.
They will all remember her forever fondly, as there is no other way to remember her. Services will be held in the spring at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, when the blue bonnets are in bloom.
