Sylvia May Kincheloe Symons, 98, died quietly on Sunday, Dec. 23 in Marble Falls.
She was born to John W. and Mabel C. Kincheloe in Oatmeal on May 27, 1914. She married the love of her life, Phil Symons, on April 4, 1941.
They lived much of their life in Burnet, Buchanan Dam, and at their Bertram ranch. Symons and Phil’s happy union lasted until his death April 27, 1994.
Besides her husband, Symons was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Melvin and Clement Kincheloe.
She is survived by sister-in-law Ivy Berdoll, and a number of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, friends, and neighbors.
In her last months, Symons was grateful to blessed with a group of wonderful caregivers, particularly Charlene Maugham who held Sylvia’s hand as she passed from this life. The family is
exceedingly grateful that her last years were made all the more pleasant by her sweet-natured companion and gentle cajoler, Cathy Felps. Our gratitude is also extended to Gateway Villa’s staff and the Administrator, Susan White.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Jan. 4 at the Edgar Funeral Home in Burnet. Services will be
held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 5 at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Greg Neill of Marble Falls Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Burnet City Cemetery.
