Mitchell D. Garner April 13, 1963 ~ Jan. 1, 2013
Mitchell Duran Garner, 49, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1. He is now in the presence of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Garner was born on April 13, 1963 in Memphis, Tenn., to Darlene Pierson and Robert J. Garner Sr. Garner lived most of his life in Hobbs, N.M., and moved to the Austin area in 2002.
Despite his setbacks in his physical health at an early age, Garner lived his life to the fullest. He was always making people smile and knew how to tell a joke! He had such an amazing heart, and he always saw the good in peoplemaking sure to compliment them sincerely.
He loved his family dearly, had a passion for nature, and loved all animals. He enjoyed listening to his music every day and working with wood. Garner had a brilliant mind, always learning and could hold an intelligent conversation on any given subject.
Garner is survived by his mother Darlene Pierson and husband Pat of Austin; father Robert J. Garner, Sr. and wife Robbie of Hobbs, N.M.; brother Robert J. Garner Jr. and wife Bonnie of Austin; sister Sheena L. Garner of Houston; daughter Jordan Caraway of Kilgore, Texas; son Jamison Wright of Kilgore; grandson Hunter Cash Caraway of Kilgore; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved paternal grandmother "Mema,” Robbie Eddins Garner; maternal grandparents; and aunt D’Aun Ehms Vickers.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
