Leola Williams Cooper Aug. 7, 1915 ~ Jan. 26, 2013

She was the middle child born Aug. 7, 1915 in Browndell, Texas, to Arthur Daniel Williams and Lillie Frances Cole. She attended J.H. Reagan High School in Houston and opened her own beauty salon in Harrisburg, Texas. She married Leslie Wayne Cooper in 1939 and moved to Kingsville, Texas. She moved back to Houston in 1949 and worked for American General Insurance Company until her retirement in 1977. She spent her retirement years living on Lake Buchanan and in Austin. Cooper was an active member of Silver Creek Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary Lake Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed cross-stitching and working jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by husband Leslie Wayne Cooper; parents Arthur and Lillie Williams;
and sister Opal Williams Hopson.
Cooper is survived by daughter Doris Treadwell; grandson Alan B. Treadwell and wife Debora; granddaughter Kelly Treadwell Byrd and husband Robert Byrd; great-grandchildren Alexis and Tyler Byrd; sister Marie Robinson and husband Don; nieces Daphne Hodges, Donna Robinson, and Janet Hudson and husband Ricky; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the many doctors and nurses at Seton Medical Center Cardiac Unit and the Christopher House who cared for her during her final days.
A private family service celebrating her life will be held at Weeks Chapel in Jasper, Texas. An online guest book may be signed through the Weed-Corley-Fish website at www.wcfish.com.
